The Ashbrook Equine Hospital

Ashbrook Equine Hospital provides a friendly, professional, service for all your equine veterinary needs. Our team of dedicated equine-only vets are experienced in all aspects of equine care, from routine vaccinations to specialized surgery.

The Hospital opened in 1991 and nestles in beautiful Cheshire countryside. It is conveniently situated just 10 minutes from Junctions 18 and 19 of the M6, so is easily accessible from across the north-west of England.

Our ambulatory vets travel throughout Cheshire, Lancashire, North Staffordshire, Greater Manchester and The Wirral on a daily basis to visit and examine horses at home. For more complex conditions, horses may be brought to our state-of-the-art hospital for thorough diagnostic investigation and treatment.

The hospital is staffed 24 hours a day and horses receiving intensive care are monitored by CCTV to ensure the highest standards of in-patient care. Emergency calls are answered 24 hours a day by a member of our own staff.

Our fertility services have rapidly expanded over recent years and we are very experienced in the artificial insemination of mares with both chilled and frozen semen. We have dedicated stables and turn-out paddocks for boarding mares.

We also offer a referral service to vets throughout the North West and our vets are always on the end of a phone to offer advice!

Please do not hesitate to call Ashbrook on 01565 723030 to discuss your horse’s care with a member of our staff.

Mark Windsor runs a clinic at the Hospital every Friday. He is licensed by the Association of Classical Manipulators and the Association of Osteomyologists, and uses a wide range of manipulative techniques.

Mark provides an invaluable complimentary therapy and specialises in the treatment of neck, back and pelvic problems in horses and ponies. Whether the pain is the result of a twist, fall, sporting injury or just a poorly fitting saddle, a course of therapy from Mark can be extremely useful. Back pain can be an especially frustrating condition for your vet to treat. However, manipulative technique provides an effective means of dealing with back pain and muscle spasm, helping to aid your horse`s recovery.

Mark Windsor qualified in 1984 as a McTimoney chiropractor in both humans and animals. Today, as well as running his clinic at Ashbrook, he travels around the UK and Europe working with horses. He works with a number of top competition horses, and has treated the British Showjumping team for the past 12 years, often abroad.

Appointments at the clinic can be made through your vet or by contacting the Reception at Ashbrook.
